Canada's guide dog access laws are closely modeled on those of the United States. Like the United States Canadian guide dog users are given the same rights of access to places to which the general public is invited accompanied by their guide dogs. This includes places of business, commerce, and amusement. Guide dogs are also permitted on all modes of public transportation, These statutes also protect guide dog users against discrimination in housing due to the presence and use of a guide dog. All of the 10 Canadian Provinces have adopted this legislation. The Yukon, and Northwest Territories do not have such legislation in place. This may be due to the fact that these regions are sparcely populated, and that discrimination against guide dog users living in these territories is not a major concern at this time. For this reason we have not included downloadable documents for the Yukon and Northwest Territories, but you will find such documents for each province from their respective access pages. An archive of all the Canadian guide dog access laws can be downloaded by selecting the download link below. We are not aware of any such legislation on Canada's Federal Level similar to that of the United States, and Australia.
